Deep tissue massage is ideal for the desk jockeys or people in high-pressure work environments
What is it and what is it good for?
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage but a much firmer pressure is applied and the strokes are a lot slower and aims to reach the deep layers of muscle and fascia. It is a great therapy for dealing with chronic pain caused by tension, release contracted areas and breaking up scar tissue and adhesions.
Deep tissue massage sessions generally focus on specific areas rather than being a full body treatment. Like sports massage it can be painful and you may even experience some muscle soreness for a day or two afterwards. It can also be used in combination with other therapies and is often used in sports massage.
